Last evening, I was joined once again by Sylvia and Simone and we attended the open studio party for a group of former NYU Graduates, which is based on the boarder of Bushwick and Ridgewood. The studio space is in a large brick building and the once raw spaces have been converted into individual studios. Most of the work is conceptual and featured a nice range of painting, installation and sculpture. Post visit, I’ve decided to feature artist Peter Clough.

Peter graduated from NYU in 2009 and has been busy working since. His current practice features both 3 dimensional and 2 dimensional drawings, placed objects (crystals!), site specific projections and video. I’m really interested in his use of space and time-based drawing that is in a constant state of evolution. The work is largely based on mark making, whether projected, drawn or built, shapes and forms can be as minute as a bright green triangle tacked to the wall.

Keep Peter on your radar.
