I am participating in this exhibition to honor the late Professor Joe Nkrumah who was an artist, mentor, and played a large part in founding New York University’s presence in Accra, Ghana. The Dei Center is featuring its first large-scale group exhibition curated by Lyle Ashton Harris. Seth Dei, entrepreneur, business owner and avid art collector, has amassed the largest collection of West African Art in Ghana. He is now, along with NYU, opening his collection to the public. The collaboration comes at the right time when Ghana is hungry for more art spaces and The Seth Dei Collection is broad and varies in its context but documents daily life in Ghana.
If you happen to be in Ghana, please go and witness this fabulous event. If you are elsewhere in the world, stay tuned here and I will post more photographs in the near future!
More soon.
